ABOUT ME

I have had the opportunity to live in each of the four time zones of the continental United States and in England. I have been exposed to multiple cultures and communities. Exposure to difference has fostered a desire within me to learn from the people around me. Meeting a variety of people has convinced me that there is value in many perspectives and my life can be enhanced by listening and learning from others.

I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Brigham Young University, then a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of Oregon, and finally a PhD in marriage and family therapy from Texas Tech University. I took that education and began educating clinical psychologists and marriage and family therapists as a university professor. It was an honor to train competent professionals to listen well and see greatness in each person they encountered.

After 11 years as a university professor, I became the Director of Research and Training for The Solution Focused Universe (thesfu.com). In this role I have expanded my understanding of how effective therapy works and have trained countless clinicians across the globe how to help clients achieve meaningful change in their lives. It is truly my greatest desire to change the world one person and one conversation at a time!
